Description

PGCNTY identifies counties that were included in William N. Parker's and Robert E. Gallman's "Southern Farms Study" sample of 405 southern counties that produced over 1,000 bales of cotton in 1860 (ICPSR study number 7419). The counties are identified using the original identification numbers in the Parker-Gallman dataset.
