Description

VACELSE identifies units that did not house permanent residents but were temporarily occupied at the time of enumeration. Such units are classified as vacant in the IPUMS variable VACANCY. The occupants themselves were officially enumerated at their usual place of residence. People present in units with codes greater than "0" in VACELSE include persons staying at a second home, temporarily renting a unit near a short-term work site, or working as migrant workers.
