NCHBORN is a neighborhood characteristic which reports the ratio of the number of children ever born to ever-married women aged 35 to 44 to the total number of ever-married women aged 35 to 44 for the neighborhood (children born to ever-married females 35-44 years old / total ever-married females 35-44 years old). The ratio ranges from 0.0 to 9.9 (decimal implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place.

This variable is only available for the 1970 Neighborhood Samples (U.S. and Puerto Rico). NCHBORN is a 2-digit numeric variable which reports the ratio of the number of children ever born to ever-married women aged 35 to 44 to the total number of ever-married women aged 35 to 44 for the neighborhood (children born to ever-married females 35-44 years old / total ever-married females 35-44 years old). The ratio ranges from 0.0 to 9.9 (one decimals implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place.
