Description
NRENT40 is a neighborhood characteristic which reports the ratio of renter-occupied units with gross monthly rent of less than $40 to the total number of renter-occupied units in the neighborhood for which the gross is tabulated, this excludes "no cash rent" units (renter-occupied units with monthly gross rent less than $40 / total renter-occupied units for which gross rent is tabulated). The ratio ranges from .00 to .99 (decimal implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place.
This variable is only available for the 1970 U.S. Neighborhood Samples. NRENT40 is a 2-digit numeric variable which reports the ratio of renter-occupied units with gross monthly rent of less than $40 to the total number of renter-occupied units in the neighborhood for which the gross is tabulated, this excludes "no cash rent" units (renter-occupied units with monthly gross rent less than $40 / total renter-occupied units for which gross rent is tabulated). The ratio ranges from .00 to .99 (two decimals implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place. NRENT40 specific variable codes for missing, edited, or unidentified observations, observations not applicable (N/A), observations not in universe (NIU), top and bottom value coding, etc. are provided below by Census year (and data sample if specified).
User Note: Similar variables are available for the Puerto Rico Neighborhood sample, which make use of differing monetary thresholds for monthly rent: NRN20PR, NRN40PR, and NRN100PR.
