PCTMETRO
Percent of PUMA population living in metro area

Description

PCTMETRO reports the percentage of the population of a household's Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA) that falls within a metro area (METRO).

Codes

PCTMETRO is a 5-digit numeric variable with 2 implied decimals.

Comparability

PUMA and CBSA delineations change with each decennial census. For 2022-onward ACS samples, PCTMETRO is based on 2020 PUMA definitions and 2023 CBSA delineations of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). For the 2010 10% and 2012-2021 ACS samples, it is based on 2010 PUMA definitions and 2013 CBSA delineations.
