Description

PUMALAND reports the total land area in the PUMA (5+ percent sample) or Super-PUMA (1 percent sample) in square meters. While both land and water areas are included in PUMAAREA, only land area is included in PUMALAND. See also PUMA and PUMASUPR.

This variable is only available in 2000 and 2010. PUMALAND is a 14-digit numeric variable which reports the total land area in the PUMA (5+ percent sample) or Super-PUMA (1 percent sample) in square meters. Both land and water areas are included in PUMAAREA, however only land area is included in PUMALAND. PUMALAND specific variable codes for missing, edited, or unidentified observations, observations not applicable (N/A), observations not in universe (NIU), top and bottom value coding, etc. are provided below by Census year (and data sample if specified).
