Description
CBHHTYPE is the household type variable provided by the Census that classifies all households based on the relationship type of the householder(s). Notably, it includes cohabiting couple households and households with the presence of own children under the age of 18. In the future, IPUMS plans to make this variable available for all samples.
Users can also use HHTYPE, which is an IPUMS-constructed variable that mirrors the household type variable created by the Census Bureau in the 2000 ACS sample.
