Description
OCCDUPE flags cases in the original 1870 full count file where individuals were mistakenly assigned the same occupation as the Head of Household. These cases include persons unlikely to have valid employment at the time of enumeration (i.e., married women, children). IPUMS has identified these records and has edited or allocated the OCC values as appropriate.
