Description
MBPLSTR contains the original alphabetic string of the U.S. state, the outlying U.S. area or territory, or the foreign country where the respondent's mother was born. MBPLSTR is used to construct the coded variable MBPL.
MBPLSTR is a 50-character alphabetic string variable which reports the U.S. state, outlying U.S. area or territory, or foreign country where the respondent's mother was born. It is used to construct the numeric variable MBPL. MBPLSTR specific variable codes for missing, edited, or unidentified observations, observations not applicable (N/A), observations not in universe (NIU), top and bottom value coding, etc. are provided below if applicable by Census year (and data sample if specified).
