NFOREIGN is a neighborhood characteristic which reports the ratio of the number of persons of foreign stock to the total population for the neighborhood (foreign stock population / total population). The ratio ranges from .00 to .99 (decimal implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place.

This variable is only available for the 1970 Neighborhood Samples (U.S. and Puerto Rico). NFOREIGN is a 2-digit numeric variable which reports the ratio of the number of persons of foreign stock to the total population for the neighborhood (foreign stock population / total population). The ratio ranges from .00 to .99 (two decimals implied) with values rounded to the nearest decimal place.
