DEGFIELD2 reports the second field in which the person received a Bachelor's degree, if the person holds a Bachelor's degree in a second field.

Comparability
This variable is only available for 2009- onward ACS and PRCS. Users should be aware that Census codes for field of degree changed slightly between 2009 and 2010, the first two years in which DEGFIELD2 is offered. For example, Neuroscience changed from code 4003 in 2009 to 3611 in 2010. Users interested in comparing DEGFIELD2 over time should know that there may be different codes for the same field across samples. Furthermore, as the Census continues to develop its classification system for degree fields, codes may be added, deleted, or compressed. IPUMS preserves each sample's full range of codes.

ACS editing procedure:
The questionnaire has multiple lines that can be filled in. If the first lines are skipped and later line(s) are filled in, the later lines are used as the first and/or second degree fields.
If a person has less than a bachelor's degree (EDUC), DEGFIELD and DEGFIELD2 will be replaced with "Not in universe."
If someone has a Bachelor's degree (EDUC) and the field of degree (DEGFIELD) is missing, it will be allocated from someone else with a Bachelor's degree, with a similar occupation (OCC), AGE, and SEX.
If someone has a Master's degree (EDUC) and the field of degree (DEGFIELD) is missing, it will be allocated from someone else with a Master's degree, with a similar occupation (OCC), AGE, and SEX.
