MCDPOP
Minor Civil Division population

Description

MCDPOP reports the population for all minor civil divisions, as defined in MCD. Minor civil divisions are the principal independent political division at the sub-county level. Historically, the most common example of a minor civil division is the township, but they have a variety of state-specific descriptive terms, including town, precinct, beat, and district. Many MCD boundaries have changed over time, and historical minor civil divisions may not correlate exactly to contemporary areas. MCDs are state and county dependent, and must be read in conjunction with one of the state variables (STATEFIP or STATEICP) and COUNTYICP.
