Description
RURALYN identifies inhabitants of places with less than 1,000 residents outside of any Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) or in non-metropolitan counties. The original classification of the URBRURAL variable grouped all places less than 2,500 persons outside of any SMSAs into one category to satisfy confidentiality requirements. (See URBRURAL for additional information).
Users should consult the variable, REGION for clarification those states within the New England census division (those not available in the universe statement for RURALYN).
