Description
VACDUR reports the time elapsed, in months, since the last occupants moved out of a vacant housing unit. For new, never-occupied vacant units, VACDUR measures the time elapsed since construction was completed.

Comparability
This variable is largely comparable across years. In 1990, units temporarily occupied by persons who usually lived elsewhere (see VACELSE) are coded "1" ("Less than 1 month") in VACDUR.
