VOCSCTYP
Type of vocational school, Puerto Rico

Description

VOCSCTYP indicates the type of vocational school attended by those respondents who have completed some type of vocational training. Completion of vocational training is captured in the variable, VOCTRAIN, for those respondents who have a code of "1."

Type of vocational school is identified based on the institutional locale of the school and/or training program. For instance, VOCSCTYP differentiates between vocational training programs offered through high schools, places of work, business/trade school/junior colleges or some other type of vocational training program/school.

While VOCTRAIN is available for the 1970, 1980 and 1990 Puerto Rico samples, VOCSCTYP is available only for the 1980 and 1990 Puerto Rico samples. Users may also want to consult the related variable, VOCTRTYP, which indicates the main field (i.e., business, nursing, etc.) of vocational training for respondents who have completed vocational training and is available for the 1970 Puerto Rico sample.
