Description

REEL reports the National Archives number of the microfilm reel from which the case was drawn. For each year, REEL can be used in conjunction with MICROSEQ, PAGENO, and LINE to locate the case on a microfilmed version of the original census form.

REEL is a 4-digit numeric variable that reports the National Archives number of the microfilm reel from which the case was drawn. For each year, REEL can be used in conjunction with MICROSEQ, PAGENO, and LINE to locate the case on a microfilmed version of the original census form. REEL specific variable codes for missing, edited, or unidentified observations, observations not applicable (N/A), observations not in universe (NIU), top and bottom value coding, etc. are provided below by Census year (and data sample if specified).
