PROBAPI
Probability of Asian/Pacific Islander race response

Description

PROBAPI represents the predicted probability that a multiple-race part-Asian and/or part-Pacific Islander respondent in the 2000 census, the ACS or the PRCS would have reported only Asian and/or Pacific Islander race if asked for a single race response. This predicted probability has been multiplied by 100 for PROBAPI; users must divide PROBAPI by 100 before using it.

For an explanation of how the predicted probability was calculated, see RACESING.

Single-race Asians and single-race Pacific Islanders have a value of 100 on PROBAPI; other single-race respondents have a value of 000. Multiple race people whose races are all Asian, Pacific Islander, or 'other race' have a value of 100 on PROBAPI because of the bridging methodology explained in RACESING.
