Description

VERSIONHIK identifies the public release version of the HIK values for each census year.

HIK is a universal identifier key used to track individuals across historical censuses. HIKs are the product of a complex linking process developed by the Multigenerational Longitudinal Panel (MLP) project. The MLP project and a description of the linking process are described at the Multigenerational Longitudinal Panel home page.

VERSIONHIK is a combination of the public release version of the historical full count file used to generate the HIKs (VERSIONHIST) and the public release version of the HIKs. For example, a VERSIONHIK value of "1.0-1.1" indicates that the public release version of the historical full count file used to generate the HIKS is "1.0" and the public release version of the HIKs is "1.1".
