Description

HOMECITY provides city of origin information for Alaskan residents.

In 1900, residents of Alaska were asked their "Post-office address at home." This information was coded to the state, county, city, and minor civil division level. HOMECITY provides information on U.S. cities.

Additional geographic detail is available in HOMESTAT, HOMECNTY, and HOMEMCD.

Codes

This variable is only available for 1900. HOMECITY is a 4-digit numeric code which provides the city of origin information for Alaskan residents. In 1900, residents of Alaska were asked their "Post-office address at home." This information was coded to the state, county, city, and minor civil division level. HOMECITY provides information on U.S. cities. HOMECITY specific variable codes for missing, edited, or unidentified observations, observations not applicable (N/A), observations not in universe (NIU), top and bottom value coding, etc. are provided below by Census year (and data sample if specified).

User Note: HOMECITY codes are state-dependent and therefore must be read in combination with HOMESTAT.
