PROBAI
Probability of American Indian race response

Description

PROBAI represents the predicted probability that a multiple-race part-American Indian/Alaska Native respondent in the 2000 census, the ACS or the PRCS would have reported only American Indian or Alaska Native race if asked for a single race response. This predicted probability has been multiplied by 100 for PROBAI; users must divide PROBAI by 100 before using it.

For an explanation of how the predicted probability was calculated, see RACESING.

Single-race American Indians and Alaska Natives have a value of 100 on PROBAI; other single-race respondents have a value of 000. Biracial American Indian/'other race' people also have a code of 100 on PROBAI because of the bridging methodology explained in RACESING.
