1910 Industry Codes
(Back to Industry Appendices)
(Back to 1910 Hispanic Oversample - User's Guide)
This page presents the 1910 census industrial classification system recorded in the IPUMS variable IND. The page shows each industrial category and its corresponding IND code (the original 1910 codes contained alphabetic characters; the IPUMS recodes them into numeric form without changing the categorization). The industries are organized into several large groupings (e.g., agriculture). In addition to this contemporary system, the IPUMS codes all census years into the 1950 industrial classification scheme, recording them in the variable IND1950.
