1930 Industry Codes
This page presents the 1930 census industrial classification system recorded in the IPUMS variables IND and IND1930. The original industry codes containing both alphabetic and numeric characters are preserved in IND1930, while IND presents the industry codes in fully numeric form without changing the industry categorization. This table presents the relationship between the IND and IND1930 codes. In addition to this contemporary system, the IPUMS codes all census years into the 1950 industrial classification scheme, recording them in the variable IND1950. This table is also available in Excel format.
