This page presents the 2000 census industrial classification system recorded in the IPUMS variable IND for the 2000 census PUMS and the 2000-2002 ACS PUMS. The page shows each industry category and its corresponding IND code. The 2000 data also contain an alternative classification recorded in INDNAICS. In addition to these contemporary systems, the IPUMS codes all census years into the 1950 industry classification scheme, recording them in the variable IND1950.
